Earthy Notes | Certified Organic Private Mornington Peninsula Wine Tours

Tour Details

Looking for a winery tour that loves the earth like you do? Then look no further.

This private tour in the Mornington Peninsula is centred around visiting and supporting wineries that have been certified as organic by Australian Certified Organic (ACO) or The National Association for Sustainable Agriculture (NASAA), two of the biggest organic certification bodies in Australia.

An organic certification is achieved through farming practices that avoid the use of synthetic fertilisers, pesticides, and herbicides. While natural practices are starting to increase, only a handful of vineyards in the Mornington Peninsula have currently achieved this certification.

So come along, enjoy a day of earthy notes in the gorgeous winery region situated between the Port Phillip Bay and the Western port Bay. Known for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this cool climate area with strong winds, red volcanic soil, and sweeping hills, produces grapes with exceptional flavours, high in acidity and fine tannins, that result in remarkable vintages.

There is no better way to enjoy a wine-filled summer day than with an organic tour of the Mornington Peninsula.

This 8-hour private tour package price per person includes 12-16 organic wine tastings at 3 different wineries, a gourmet organic lunch, and private transport to all wineries.

  • This tour requires a minimum of 3 guests and a maximum of 6 guests.
  • Kindly contact us if you wish to make a tentative booking.

Itinerary

10.00 A.M | Pick-up

Our tour guide will pick up your group from location(s) of your choice within Metropolitan Melbourne limits.

11.00 A.M | Wine Tastings at Quealy Winemakers

Our first stop is an ACO certified organic winery (Certification number 12873).

Not only does Quealy run their own organic vineyard, but they manage several others, implementing organic practices across other vineyards located in the Mornington Peninsula and Red Hill region.

Known for its Pinot Grigio. The local landscape and ocean influence produces variations in microclimate that are intensified in the glass.

As well as its Grigio, its Pinot Noir also shines with the rich volcanic soils and range of vineyard elevation that deepen the tones of dark berry, plum, aniseed, and earth.

12:00 P.M | Wine Tastings & Organic Lunch at Yabby Lake

Our second stop is a winery that is certified as being in conversion to organic by NASAA (Certification number 3056ML1). Becoming certified is a process and this in-conversion certification means that they are being recognised for taking serious steps to being organic. Its now only a matter of time before they become officially organic certified.

Yabby Lake’s cellar door is a gorgeous intimate affair with recycled timber and stunning views. They focus on single vineyard wines and provide tastings from both the Yabby Lake Vineyard, a north facing slope that receives maximum sun and plenty of sea breeze, and the Heathcote Estate, also a north facing vineyard, but situated in the Heathcote region of central Victoria.

Lunch – Yabby Lake Restaurant

Yabby Lake’s restaurant works of a seasonal menu using fresh fare and local greens, some of which comes from their own kitchen vegetable and herb garden, as well as eggs from their hens, with the aim of creating food that is simple but refined. Alongside the delicious menu, the restaurant provides wonderous views, and engaging artworks to compliment the diner’s experience.

03:00 P.M | Wine Tastings at Ten Minutes by Tractor

Our third stop is another ACO certified organic winery (Certification number 10778) and one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most famous premium wineries, a venue that demands a visit.

The intimate cellar door provides an in depth tasting of a range of wines boasting complexity and elegance, with the single vineyard chardonnays being especially complemented.

It’s certainly a winery that will not disappoint.
