Vitamin Sea | Private Wine Tour in Gippsland
Tour Details
Beautiful South Gippsland is a true cool-climate region, with maritime influences from often stormy Bass Strait. Wineries from Phillip Island to the foothills of the Strzelecki Ranges produce wonderful aromatic white wines, elegant chardonnay, and pinot gris, but have found their true expression with pinot noir of superb flavor and structure.
Gippsland is unpretentious and its experiences are earthy and authentic. You will not find the vast vineyards or grand scale cellar doors of the Yarra Valley here but rather a small, personalised, and unhurried experience shared with the maker or grower.
Vitamin Sea is the perfect wine tour for groups of friends who love good wine, good food, and good company in a beautiful rural setting. If you have already explored the wineries in the Yarra Valley region & Mornington Peninsula – then this region is a MUST visit!
With a fully licensed and CPVV accredited tour guide at your side, our aim is to provide you with a memorable experience exploring the best wines that Gippsland has to offer at an affordable price. This 8-hour private tour package price per person includes 18-24 wine tastings at 3 different wineries, a gourmet lunch, and private transport to all wineries.

11.00 A.M | Wine Tastings at Gurdies
Start the journey at Gurdies, a stylish cellar door overlooking the Western Port Bay in the Bass Coast region of South Gippsland. The vineyard and winery, which have been established for 30 years produces a range of varietal and blended wines made from eight varieties of Estate-grown grapes, using traditional wine-making processes. The wines are typically cool climate in style, the most popular being Riesling, Verdelho-Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Other varieties include Pinot Noir and Tempranillo and the Winery also produces red and white port.
12:00 P.M | Wine Tastings at Bass River Winery
Our 2nd stop is Bass River, a tiny winery that bears a resemblance to a small domaine in South Gippsland – in size, approach, passion and very often in the glass. The vignerons – The Butera Family, produces small quantities of premium wines grown only from the estate vineyard, expressing terroir and organic principles to hand craft distinctive regional wines.
Bass River aspires to craft wines with elegance, freshness, purity, balance and length. This demands that they follow a stringent non-interventionist traditional approach to our winemaking, by allowing controlled indigenous yeast to do our fermentation and using traditional Burgundian methods to enhance the expression of our terroir and character of Bass River.
Wine tastings at this venue usually last about 1 hour.
01:00 P.M | Gourmet Lunch at The Grove Gippsland
Graze your way through Gippsland while taking in expansive views of Bass Hinterland and the olive and truffle groves at The Grove restaurant on Uren Road in Krowera.
The Grove offers relaxed dining in a stylish and tranquil setting within a 60-acre farm, where the focus is on real food, community, nature and sustainability.
Chill out with a glass of wine in front of the wood fire on a comfy well-worn leather couch, or take a seat in the light and airy dining space where overflowing greenery sets a calming vibe and peruse an ever-evolving share and tapas menu. Perhaps start with duck liver pate, horseradish and chicken salt, before cabbage and brisket gnocchi, brown butter and lemon myrtle; for a sweet finish, try wattleseed tiramisu and mascarpone.
03:15 P.M | Wine Tastings at The Gippsland Wine Company
Our final stop is the Gippsland Wine Company, a Village Vineyard and Cellar Door in the unofficial appellation of South Gippsland, marked by rolling hills and valleys, maritime influence and dark loams. Long, cool seasons make it ideal for the early ripening varieties, including GWC’s award-winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. And, elegant, savoury examples of late ripening grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese.
04:15 P.M | Wrap-up & Depart Gippsland
As the day comes to an end, it is time to wrap up and leave Gippsland and head back home.
